SAC Researchers At The International Conference On Climate Change

SAC researchers provided two papers at the recent highly-publicised International Conference on Climate Change organised by the University of Copenhagen.  Dominic Moran presented a paper on the economics of mitigating agricultural greenhouse gas emissions, while Anita Wreford presented a paper on adaptation.

The conference was the largest gathering of climate scientists before the forthcoming UN Conference of  the Parties meeting in Copenhagen in December to hammer out a post Kyoto deal on emissions. The conference heard from a range of international scientists including Rajendra Pachauri (head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), Lord Sir Nicholas Stern, and John Schnellenhuber of the Potsdam Institute.

While global risks from unheeded warming messages were highlighted, there is a growing interest in the topic of managing agricultural emissions, adaptation strategies and the risks for global food security.
