About

Staff from The James Hutton Institute will be in a number of locations at the Royal Highland Show 2011 to introduce you to our research and outreach activities. Come and pay us a visit!

SAC Marquee

There is a growing demand to provide food, energy and clean water from our finite land and natural resources. These demands are complex, interconnected and ever changing but researchers at The James Hutton Institute aim to improve understanding of the interrelationships between changes in climate, land use, natural resources, and human communities.

Visit our exhibit in the Scottish Agricultural College marquee, stand number 157/158 which is situated on 7th Avenue beside the main show ring, and tell us what you think is the biggest environmental challenge facing Scotland today.

This exhibit was also feature a timeline highlighting the evolution of the Institute from the birth of James Hutton through to the formation of The James Hutton Institute.

SEARS, Natural Scotland tent

Visit us in the SEARS, Natural Scotland tent to play COLONISE: a game of lichen survival. Discover how lichens compete with each other for space, how they are affected by changes in the environment, and what happens when a hungry slug comes looking for a meal…!
