knowledgescotland Work Shadowing Scheme

Current evidence suggests that opportunities for people to physically move between organisations and communicate directly provide a very effective means of conveying knowledge and building links.

The pilot scheme will involve pairing ten scientists from the major research providers to RERAD with relevant
Scottish Government officials for one week from 31 August to 4 September.

Scientists will be based in three Directorates of the Scottish Government: Rural; Chief Medical Officer and Public Health; Rural and Environment Research and Analysis. They will have the opportunity to work with officials whose policy responsibilities are particularly relevant to their areas of research, gain a practical insight into how the outputs from scientific research are used by Government to help inform policy and identify any areas where the effectiveness of knowledge exchange could be enhanced.

During the week, some time will be spent at the Scottish Parliament, attending a Parliamentary Committee meeting and a Chamber debate, and meeting with Senior Researchers at the Scottish Parliament Information Centre (SPICe).
