New Milestone For knowledgescotland
knowledgescotland reaches a new milestone next month when a two day conference will focus on key research areas including Responses to Climate Change, Protecting Biodiversity and the Environmental, Social and Economic Sustainability of Rural Scotland.
There will also be an up-to-the-minute briefing on Health and Wellbeing and the research being conducted on human, animal and crop health.
‘Science Policy Success’ is being staged at Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 October.
Some of Scotland’s leading experts on climate change, sustainable development and biodiversity will be taking part. Those speaking at the conference include Professor Anne Glover, the Scottish Government’s Chief Scientific Adviser, Professor Paul R. van Gardingen, the Director of the Edinburgh International Development Centre at the University of Edinburgh and the Environment Minister, Roseanna Cunningham MSP.
Part of the conference will look at the way complex scientific issues are communicated to the public: also taking part will be the broadcasters Quentin Cooper and Lesley Riddoch.
knowledgescotland began life earlier this year providing events and also an online resource for policymakers and Government stakeholders. The focus is on the food, health, environment and rural sectors.
Six of Scotland’s top research providers are behind the initiative which is supported by the Scottish Government:
- Macaulay Land Use Research Institute
- Moredun Research Institute
- Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health
- Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
- SAC (Scottish Agricultural College)
- SCRI (Scottish Crop Research Institute).
The project is designed to assist policymakers develop improved knowledge and understanding in the food, health, environment and rural sectors. More than a hundred delegates are expected to attend and there are very few places left. More details can be found on the SCRI website.The conference will be open to accredited members of the media.
